Forest engineer with a master’s degree in forest and biodiversity management and conservation. Expert in forest carbon, forest plantation management and software development, author of several software related to forest management and carbon in forest ecosystems.

He is currently Cercarbono’s Programme Director. He was the director of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) regional office for South America. He has been a consultant on forest carbon issues for the World Bank and private companies, a researcher at the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Centre, CATIE, and director of the area of forest plantation management in reforestation projects in Colombia. He has also been an instructor at numerous training events on forest CDM, REDD and forest management and invited speaker at seminars and courses on carbon and forest management in more than twenty countries.
