Lauren Serota

Co-Founder & Advisor

I am a product and design leader focused on creating positive social and environmental impact in emerging industries. I have built and led product, strategy, and design teams across 4 continents to bring first-in-market propositions to life, many of which serve rural agrarian value chains. I advise sustainability, agriculture, and climate start-ups in their formation, product strategy, community engagement, and go-to-market.

A few activities past and present relevant to the EBF community:

  • I was a founding board member for the US-based food policy non-profit The Greenfield Project.
  • I co-founded and now advise Funga, a biotech startup restoring the forest mycobiome.
  • I am an Entrepreneur-In-Residents with the Climate Collective, and lead a workstream (including a pilot) on payments for ecosystem services.
  • I co-chaired a World Economic Forum working group on digital carbon credits and advise other multi-lateral groups in defining and driving best practices and standards for ecological assets and ecosystem services.
  • I am a member of the founding faculty for the alternative social innovation school the Austin Center for Design, and now teach at the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Integrated Design.
  • I founded and operate a clean cosmetics company with a cult following.
