Financing ecological benefits requires a variety of different funders. Each has special needs and requirements. Presently, some may simply be purchasing carbon credits to offset their emissions as part of internally defined net-zero strategies.

These investors include:

  • Sovereigns
  • Institutional Investors
  • Companies
  • Family Offices and Philanthropic Institutions
  • Impact Investors

As societal concerns deepen regarding rapid biodiversity loss, desertification, and other environmental challenges, financial markets will develop new instruments to value activities that offer documented and verifiable ecological benefits.
